Figaro, Count Almaviva's valet, is about to marry Susanna, the Countess's maid. But their wedding day is punctuated by misunderstandings and confusion, sometimes intended to delay the marriage, sometimes to thwart the plans of the Count, who has promised to seduce the future bride. The result of a first collaboration between Mozart and Da Ponte, this opera inspired by a comedy by Beaumarchais features some of the most promising lyric artists in the country in a staging by Alain Gauthier.
